Despite a second half fightback it ended a black night for Town's black clad men, with George Burley suffering his 100th league defeat as Ipswich manager. A disappointing first half saw Blackburn two-up, but a much improved second half saw Marcus Stewart get back into scoring action, but it wasn't enough to get Town a valuable point.

TWTD understands that Italian keeper Matteo Sereni may return to the Town line-up for tonight's crucial bottom of the table clash at Blackburn. Sereni has been out of the side since asking for a rest at Dagenham and Redbridge in January.

Town's U19 Academy side meet Wimbledon away (11am KO, Richardson Evans Memorial Ground, Roehampton Vale) this weekend, while the U17s are not in action. However, many of the younger squad will be involved in the U19s the senior Academy squad increasingly features in the reserves. Meanwhile another Academy player was in international action last night.

Leeds ran out 2-0 winners of a wind affected game at Elland Road this evening. Once again Town must reflect on more errors at the back, but in truth the Blues created little of consequence despite the odd decent passing move in midfield.

A tired looking Town fell to their second successive home defeat and are now firmly back in the relegation battle. The Blues rarely looked at the races as Gordon Strachan's men won the midfield battle and took their chances.

Jim Magilton has expressed worries that this summer's World Cup could be a few games too far for Town skipper Matt Holland. The Northern Irish international believes that Holland may burn himself out of he doesn't take a rest soon.
